This is a longer mixtape, one that would probably extend across several mixtapes. It began life as an iTunes playlist that I later burned to an mp3 CD to play in my car. This was during the lowest, saddest point in my life, during which I drove around the U.S. aimlessly for months at a time. The songs aren't all in-your-face sad songs. Some merely put me in a certain mood, or create a melancholy atmosphere, and some are ostensibly happy songs; those songs morphed into unhappy songs for me because of some connotation that they lost during that time in my life. In short, this is a very personal list that both brings me sorrow and gives me hope all at once, and puts to use the great healing power of music.
